Cutting Braided Metal Guy wire

Postby VA2KEY » Sun May 22, 2011 8:16 pm

I was up on the roof today to installing guy wires. The cable is 5/32 braided metal. I had a pair of 4-5 inch side cutters but that didn't cut well.

Anybody know any tricks to cut braided cable?

I assume you're talking about steel guy wire.

Did you try using the brute-force cutting zone of a pair of Vice Grips?

Interesting, I don't have a cutter on my vise-grips. I'll be watching the Canadian Tire flyer...
Thanks

I suggested it because I thought most regular Vice Grips have such a thing on them. I'm surprised yours don't.

Some older ones (like the one I own) don't.
