TV antenna conversion

Postby VA2KEY » Mon May 23, 2011 11:11 am

Eamon, this is really an antenna modeling question.

I'm trying to convert an old TV antenna for use on 2 meters using the measurements here: http://www.nrharc.org/Downloads/5%20el%202%20meter.pdf

My current problem is that I only have hand tools, which makes my drilling imprecise when preparing to mount the elements. I've made 2 attempts to get the elements aligned on the same plane but I always end-up with something like the somewhat exagerated attached picture (viewing down the boom).

Do you know if it's possible to model in software the effect of the misalignment? If the alignment ends up being critical, I'll have to conclude there's no point trying to do it with hand tools.

You are modelling stuff in 3D space, so you can try any degree of misalignment you want.

Since you say the drawing is exaggerated, how far off are you?
